Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Repair Technician to join our team. This role involves the maintenance and repair of various types of medium and heavy construction machinery, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct repairs and overhauls on equipment including cranes, bulldozers, rollers, graders, loaders, and power shovels.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to engines and major components.
- Inspect, remove, and replace parts such as injection valves, cylinder heads, and pistons.
- Repair and maintain systems including brakes, transmissions, and cooling systems.
- Perform road tests on repaired equipment to ensure functionality.
- Execute minor welding tasks as part of repair work.
- Supervise junior mechanics or assistants as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Respond to emergency repair calls within a specified timeframe.
- Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an apprenticeship program in construction equipment repair or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of four years of automotive repair experience, with at least two years focused on construction equipment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in the principles of gasoline and diesel engines.
- Familiarity with tools and practices used in the repair of construction machinery.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical defects and follow technical manuals.
Physical Requirements:
- Must meet health and physical condition standards necessary for the role.
