Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Hawaii County, HI. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of heavy construction equipment, including cranes, bulldozers, rollers, graders, loaders, and power shovels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical defects in diesel and gasoline engines
  • Overhaul and repair various parts of construction equipment, including brake systems, transmissions, differentials, and steering units
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and filter replacements
  • Inspect and test equipment to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to ensure efficient and effective equipment maintenance
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an apprenticeship program or four years of automotive repair experience under a journeyman mechanic preferred
  • Valid State of Hawaii driver's license (Class 3) or comparable driver's license required
  • Good driving record and ability to respond to emergencies within 30 minutes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
