As a Fiber Optic Installation Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks, ensuring high-quality service delivery to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Splicing Fiber Optic Cables:** You will splice both loose tube and ribbon optic cables with precision.
- **Constructing Splice Cases:** This includes grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing to ensure durability and reliability.
- **Interpreting Work Orders:** Read and understand specifications, engineering drawings, and cut sheets to determine the sequence of tasks required.
- **Adhering to Industry Standards:** Perform all work in compliance with established industry standards and safety procedures.
- **Familiarity with BICSI Standards:** You will be expected to follow design engineers' instructions and maintain the scope of work on the project.
- **Interpreting Telecom Facilities:** Accurately interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities from records, maps, and field observations, making recommendations for construction methodologies.
- **Maintaining Records:** Keep detailed inside and outside plant records during installation processes.
- **Participating in Project Processes:** Engage in engineering, permit, and construction processes to support project contracts.
- **Routine Maintenance:** Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on existing routes, including hand hole cleanup and sign placement.
- **Connecting Wires and Cables:** Connect wires and cables to terminals and manage various hardware attachments.
- **Emergency Response:** Respond to emergency situations that require heavy construction capabilities.
- **Safety Compliance:** Ensure all work prioritizes the safety of customers and the public, adhering to all governmental regulations.
- **Outdoor Work:** Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- **Documentation:** Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation accurately.
Essential Skills:
- We are looking for candidates eager to gain experience in the telecom field, particularly in Layer 1 fiber, Cat5, and Cat6 technologies.
- **Physical Capability:** Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, as equipment and tools can be heavy and cumbersome.
- **Customer Service Orientation:** Provide excellent service to both residential and commercial clients.
