About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Ensemble Health Partners. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient admission process for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admitting Duties: Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital, ensuring accurate and timely completion of medical necessity / compliance checks, patient instructions, insurance information, and physician orders.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey, adhering to policies and providing compassion in interactions with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Point of Service Goals: Meet assigned point of service goals, including accounts receivable, patient satisfaction, and quality metrics.
  • Quality Auditing and Reporting: Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely completion of accounts, providing statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
  • Pre-Registration: Pre-register patient accounts prior to patient visits, including inbound and outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and other patient information.
  • Consent and Education: Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians, obtain necessary signatures, and distribute patient education documents.
  • Insurance Verification: Review eligibility responses in insurance verification system, selecting applicable insurance plan codes, entering benefit data into system to support POS (Point of Service Collections) and billing processes.
  • Medical Necessity Screening: Accurately screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software, informing Medicare patients of possible non-payment of tests by Medicare and distributing the ABN as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Customer Service Experience: 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Certifications: CRCR required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid).
