Senior Accounting Specialist

World Learning is in search of a dedicated Staff Accountant to manage and execute essential accounting functions within the Finance Department.
The Staff Accountant will utilize accounting principles and practices to evaluate financial data, ensuring the precise and timely generation of financial statements.
This role involves scrutinizing employee travel expense claims, accounts payable transactions, and corporate credit card usage in accordance with organizational policies.
The Staff Accountant will cultivate the capability to engage with various departments and personnel at all levels, both in accounting and non-accounting roles, facilitating effective communication and information exchange.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and authorize expense reports and corporate credit card statements to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Process travel advances for employees.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, clearing accounts, and other balance sheet accounts as designated by the supervisor.
- Prepare monthly allocations for shared expenses, including salaries, rent, utilities, and communication costs.
- Oversee the debit card program for participants, including card issuance and fund loading.
- Clear checks in the accounting system and compile an outstanding check report at month-end.
- Prepare and submit journal entries to the general ledger as required.
- Monitor outstanding items for departing employees, such as credit cards, expenses, and advances.
- Provide training to program staff on the Intacct system.
- Complete special projects and assignments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in accounting with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Experience with the Purchasing and T&E module of Intacct Accounting Software is advantageous.
