Position Overview

In this role, you will collaborate with Northern Trust's Technology Risk and Control team to conduct assessments of risks and controls across various technology sectors. You will oversee the implementation of technology controls in alignment with corporate policies and standards. Additionally, you will engage with global IT partners to provide guidance on control design and evaluate control maturity and gaps. Your responsibilities will also include working with compliance and audit teams to manage technology control-related issues, ensuring proper resolution, escalation, and reporting.

You will be an integral part of a dedicated team focused on enhancing control awareness and effectively managing risks within the global IT organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate the execution of global Information Technology control assurance activities to ensure effective risk and controls assessments, including reviewing the work conducted by third-party contractors.

- Conduct control testing and risk evaluations for various technology domains, including critical financial transaction systems and their supporting infrastructure.

- Assist Control Officers in managing executive reporting, tracking issues and resolutions, and measuring risk appetite.

- Influence organizational behaviors to mitigate risks and promote a robust technology risk management culture throughout the enterprise.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong presentation skills, particularly in creating PowerPoint presentations for executive audiences.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in developing IT risk and control matrices.
  • Extensive background in Risks and Controls Self-Assessment and control testing.
  • Proven experience in executing projects that involve inherent risk assessments, controls assessments, and residual risk evaluations.
  • Significant experience in controls testing across various technology domains, including Cloud Management, Identity and Access Management, Vendor Risk Management, IT Governance, IT Strategy, Information Security Operations, Change Management, and IT Asset Management.
  • Familiarity with various technology standards and frameworks, such as NIST, ISO, and FFIEC.
  • In-depth understanding of information security principles, risk assessments, and security risk management.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills, with experience in engaging with executive management.
