Job Description

Virtual is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Manager - R&D Accruals to join their team. As a key member of the finance department, this individual will be responsible for the R&D CMC accounting close process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with CMC, Accounting, FP&A, and other internal business partners to ensure a thorough understanding of R&D programs.
  • Lead the accurate and timely completion of the R&D CMC accrual during the accounting close.
  • Review and analyze R&D CMC contracts/SOWs/work orders to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Liaise between the CMC team and Accounting team regarding the monthly R&D CMC accrual.
  • Manage and prepare the monthly R&D CMC accrual to ensure accurate and timely recording of expenses, prepayments, and deposits.
  • Collaborate with FP&A forecast analyst to ensure R&D CMC forecast properly captures planned accruals.
  • Work closely with accounting on month-end and quarter-end deliverables, including reporting, reconciliations, etc.
  • Responsible for monthly R&D CMC accrual flux analysis.
  • Support quarterly and annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
  • Assist in process improvements and system implementations as needed.
  • Support ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of Public Biotech/Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
  • Progressive accounting experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel & intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint.
  • Experience with financial systems – Hyperion Planning/Essbase and SAP – is preferred.
