Automotive Sales Specialist

Position Summary

This role involves engaging with customers to sell and lease both new and pre-owned vehicles while adhering to dealership profit margins, sales volume, and customer satisfaction benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

• Achieve monthly vehicle sales targets.
• Complete sales documentation and manage paperwork in line with dealership protocols.
• Leverage dealership sales management and follow-up systems.
• Participate in product and sales training sessions as directed by management.
• Stay informed about the latest products and services in the automotive sector.
• Develop and maintain a customer follow-up system to foster repeat and referral business, enhancing customer satisfaction.
• Implement a prospect development strategy.
• Conduct business ethically and professionally.
• Address the transportation needs of vehicle buyers.
• Welcome and assist customers entering the dealership.
• Guide customers in vehicle selection by asking insightful questions and actively listening.
• Thoroughly explain product features, applications, and benefits to potential buyers.
• Detail available optional equipment for customer consideration.
• Facilitate test drives for all interested customers, ensuring proper identification is collected beforehand.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
• Understand and comply with relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing vehicle sales.
• Set personal income goals aligned with dealership productivity standards and devise strategies to achieve them.
• Keep updated on new vehicle features, accessories, and their advantages for customers.
• Comprehend vehicle equity and values, explaining depreciation to customers effectively.
• Ensure the sales manager meets each customer.
• Submit all finalized deals to the finance and insurance manager with the necessary documentation.
• Prepare sold vehicles for customer delivery ahead of their arrival.
• Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring they understand the vehicle's features, warranty, and associated paperwork.
• Introduce customers to service department staff to highlight the quality of service and maintenance options available.
• Schedule the initial service appointment.
• Follow up on all post-delivery tasks, including title work and special requests, to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Review and assess daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly performance to optimize time management and planning.
• Attend sales meetings regularly.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency

• Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Effective communication skills before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Competence in calculating rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as interpreting bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills

• Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in various formats. Capable of addressing problems with multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to solve practical issues and manage a variety of concrete variables in less standardized situations. Competence in interpreting various instructions provided in different formats.

Certificates and Licenses

• Valid Driver's License is required.
