Job Description

The Building Maintenance Specialist will oversee custodial operations in schools and departments within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

About the Role

  • You will supervise a team of custodial staff, prioritizing tasks, assigning work, and reviewing performance to meet high standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate timekeeping records for payroll purposes.
  • Evaluate custodial operations and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Train new staff on cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies.
  • Supervise daily cleaning schedules, ensuring that all areas are cleaned and maintained.
  • Identify and report maintenance needs to the relevant authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate custodial staff activities.
  • Prepare and distribute work assignments and schedules.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
  • Investigate and resolve any complaints or issues related to custodial services.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in custodial operations, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; a General Education Degree (GED) is desirable.

Estimated Salary

$52,000 - $72,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
