This key role will assist the Maintenance Manager, Mine Manager, Assistant Mine Manager, and General Mine Foreman in maintaining and improving overall equipment availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Compliance and Safety: Ensure safe and legal compliance in all maintenance systems and activities for the assigned area.
  • Workforce Development: Evaluate and develop the workforce to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate maintenance activities with appropriate managers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with the UMWA contract for the area of responsibility.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the safe operation and condition of section equipment.
  • Overtime Management: Monitor the distribution of maintenance overtime and control costs through proactive planning and execution of preventative maintenance.
  • Project Planning: Plan daily maintenance projects with the aid of a maintenance planner.
  • Cost Management: Manage daily and monthly maintenance costs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Performance Standards: Ensure work performance meets mine standards.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be proficient in all aspects of communication. They will also have the ability to work in a team environment, coordinating all maintenance activities with the operation of the mine.

The candidate should be skilled in planning and execution, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Proficiency in maintenance drawings and schematics, as well as computer literacy, is also required.
