Job Summary:

We are seeking an accomplished Archaeology Principal Investigator to join our growing Cultural Resources team in Arizona. This role involves leading technical research and writing reports, developing proposals, managing fieldwork, building relationships with stakeholders, and overseeing artifact processing and cataloging.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate cultural resources technical research and write comprehensive reports.
  • Create and develop proposals, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Manage and oversee archaeological fieldwork (field survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations).
  • Build and maintain relationships with agency archaeologists, descendent communities, and museum professionals.
  • Oversee the processing and cataloging of artifacts and other materials according to repository specifications.
  • Lead and mentor teams of cultural resources professionals.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field; or master's degree with additional experience.
  • At least four years of CRM supervisory experience in the American Southwest.
  • AZ State Museum Principal Investigator permit or ability to qualify for one.
  • Expertise in local, state, and federal cultural resources laws and regulations.
  • Experience in managing fieldwork, analysis, and report production for large cultural resources survey and data recovery projects.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing technical archaeological reports.
