Job Overview
Aquatic Safety Specialist is a part-time position with the City of Astoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting water safety, enforcing rules, and maintaining vigilance at the Astoria Aquatic Center.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensures the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies
- Maintains constant vigilance of the patrons in the facility through proactive scanning patterns
- Acts immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency

Requirements
- Must be 16 years or older
- Possession of or ability to pass an Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Certification, including CPR & First Aid certification
- Ability to physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard

Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and requires the ability to communicate verbally, follow instructions and protocols, and hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment. Employees must remain alert and vigilant with the ability to see and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility. Estimated salary: $25,000 - $35,000 per year.
