Investment Fund Administration Specialist

At Northwestern Mutual, we're committed to excellence in financial services. As a Mutual Fund Administration Consultant, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our investment company's financial statements and regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and prepare financial materials, including financial statements and disclosures.
- Provide expert financial information to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and investors.
- Ensure compliance with IRS, SEC, and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead projects related to new products, regulations, and system enhancements.
- Maintain book-to-tax differences and prepare excise and fiscal tax calculations.
- Work with internal and external contacts to achieve compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and deliver training on technical knowledge of fund administration.
- Oversee the work performed by the fund accounting service provider and custodian.
- Recommend and review new procedures to improve process and control.
- Identify, research, and resolve issues related to fund accounting, administration, and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in investment company industry, preferably in mutual fund administration or auditing.
- Experience with complex security transactions.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting for investments.
- Previous supervisory experience and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- High degree of self-motivation.
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Polished communication skills with ability to interact and engage at multiple levels.
- Ability to work well with limited guidance.
- Demonstrated superior analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrated ability to retrieve and utilize information from accounting systems and other sources.
