Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist Clinical Specialist to join our team in the Emergency Department at Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore, Maryland.

Responsibilities
  • Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication orders in specialized areas, such as nuclear medicine, oncology, and cardiology.
  • Provide guidance and support to clinical leadership and pharmacy staff.
  • Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems.
  • Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
  • Compound and dispense medications for accurate delivery to patients.
  • Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
  • Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
  • Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
  • Assist with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
  • May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
  • Provide patient counseling when required.
Requirements
  • Pharmacist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program.
  • Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
