Job Summary

The Project Accountant is a key member of our team, responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process. This includes categorizing, recording, analyzing, and monitoring costs and billings associated with large construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile, prepare, and analyze monthly project billings per contract requirements.
  • Perform financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
  • Manage vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention, and W-9s.
  • Produce and analyze job performance and profitability through job cost tracking reports.
  • Assist in preparation of status reports and maintain accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
  • Identify and resolve basic and complex project-related accounting issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years' of project accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge.
  • Strong organization skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert-level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
