Position Overview:

The Uvalde County Educational Program Coordinator, under general oversight, is responsible for the execution, planning, and assessment of educational initiatives and activities within designated program sectors. This role includes supporting and aiding in the execution of educational programs and activities in areas where other personnel have designated leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute planned educational initiatives and activities in designated program sectors that address critical issues and emerging needs; assist in the implementation of educational programs led by other staff members; identify, recruit, and train local volunteer leaders to effectively fulfill their roles within committees, clubs, and organizations; employ diverse teaching methodologies, strategies, and materials in delivering educational programs; adhere to civil rights provisions and affirmative action plans in conducting educational programs; collaborate with Extension-sponsored groups such as 4-H clubs and community organizations to enhance participation and strengthen programs.
  • Collaborate with committees, task forces, and organizations to develop and conduct educational programs and activities; create comprehensive program plans addressing core programs, critical issues, and community needs; devise evaluation strategies for outcome-driven programs and significant activities; coordinate with the entire staff to align programming efforts; work with other agencies and organizations to plan educational initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication with county, district, and administrative staff to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the county program; prepare reports and summaries to showcase planning results, program achievements, and behavioral changes resulting from educational initiatives; conduct interpretation events for elected officials to report on program outcomes.
  • Develop a long-term professional development plan with the appropriate Regional Program Leader and District Extension Administrator; create an annual individual development plan addressing short-term professional growth needs and career aspirations; engage in training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills; participate in regular staff meetings to coordinate plans and activities; assist in maintaining files and records related to Extension organizations; stay informed on Equal Employment Opportunity programs and cooperate in developing an EEO Action Plan.
  • Perform the duties of the Educational Program Coordinator professionally, collaborating with other county staff under the supervision of the Regional Program Leader; understand and accept the responsibilities associated with the position; maintain a positive work environment through effective communication and cooperation with colleagues and stakeholders. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • No prior experience required
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultures and work with at-risk youth groups.
  • Technical knowledge in civic engagement, youth leadership, college readiness, STEM, and healthy living, with the ability to apply this knowledge to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with technology and strategies for effectively conducting and promoting educational programs.
  • Ability to reside in the county, access a personal vehicle, maintain a valid Texas Driver's License, and travel for official duties.
  • Capability to work independently and respond positively to policies and supervision.
  • Adaptability to change and ability to collaborate with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Five or more years of experience in extension, research, teaching, or related fields.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of learning and youth development theories and practices.
  • Ability to build partnerships across organizations.
  • Proficiency in conducting educational presentations in both English and Spanish.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to reside in the county, access a personal vehicle, maintain a valid Texas Driver's License, and travel for official duties.
