About the Role

Prairie View A&M University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our University Police Department as a Police Officer. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide law enforcement services to the campus community, responding to emergencies and calls for assistance.
  • Interact with the public, providing escorts and assistance as needed.
  • Work under general supervision, patrolling university property and enforcing laws and regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, take reports, and perform preliminary investigations.
  • Function as a training coordinator and victim assistance coordinator.
  • Prevent crime, suppress disturbances, and issue citations as necessary.
  • Guard and transport prisoners, and report all violations and incidents.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a police academy.
  • Two years of full-time employment.
  • Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic licensure.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 30 college hours from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
