Clinical Support Technician I (Nursing Assistant I + Clerical) is required for the Burn Center. Our advanced 21-bed ICU capable Burn Center is equipped with cutting-edge technology. We cater to burn patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric, and provide comprehensive care from critical stages to rehabilitation. The Burn Center adheres to stringent verification standards set by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons, ensuring we deliver the highest quality of burn care. The NC Jaycee Burn Center stands as North Carolina's premier center of excellence in burn treatment. Our nursing team collaborates with various professionals to achieve optimal health restoration and functional recovery. They play a vital role in a multidisciplinary burn care team, which includes physicians, physician assistants, nursing assistants, physical, occupational, and recreational therapists, chaplains, rehabilitation counselors, social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, and educators. Staff members have the opportunity to provide critical care and support burn-injured patients throughout their recovery journey. The nursing staff at the Burn Center is dedicated to alleviating suffering and fostering healing and functional restoration.

This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week, with 12-hour rotating shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am) and a rotation for weekends and holidays. The role comes with a comprehensive state benefits package, including accrued PTO hours based on hours worked. Attendance at a week-long orientation (Monday through Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm) is mandatory, with sessions offered bi-weekly.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, including the procurement of necessary equipment and supplies.
  2. Thoroughly review patient care documentation, noting significant changes in patient conditions, and promptly report to a registered nurse or physician.
  3. Perform various clerical tasks, such as organizing and prioritizing workload, welcoming and directing visitors, researching information for healthcare providers, reviewing orders for accuracy, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records. Conduct routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory management of supplies.
  4. Provide clinical support, including maintaining a clean work environment, managing office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware issues, changing linens, checking supply levels, restocking supplies, transporting patients/supplies/specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new staff and students.
  5. Deliver direct personal care to patients as outlined in care plans, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility. Measure and document vital signs, height, and weight. May involve specimen collection, skin preparations, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, and postural drainage.
  6. Reinforce routine patient education provided by registered nurses or physicians and document patient comprehension of instructions. Distribute educational materials as requested by patients or healthcare providers.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Listed as Nurse Aide I Registry with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

Professional Experience Requirements:
● One year of clerical or customer service experience and six months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:
● Proficiency in verbal and written English. Ability to develop computer skills if not already competent.
