Job Summary

The Lead Mobile Equipment Mechanic at Stella-Jones in Tacoma oversees and coordinates the activities of team members and external vendors responsible for preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on various types of Powered Industrial Equipment. The successful candidate will ensure employees work in a safe and efficient manner, minimizing downtime and keeping the Mobile Fleet operational.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Maintenance Work Requests: Determine priority and assign resources for Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) maintenance work requests.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Ensure team members comply with all safety, environmental, and manufacturing practices.
  • Communicate with Production and Quality Assurance: Communicate equipment breakdowns and estimated repair times to production and quality assurance teams.
  • Collaborate with Vendors and Management: Confer with vendors, management, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and equipment conditions.
  • Document and Report Maintenance Work: Document and report maintenance work performed and advise on future requirements in a timely manner.
  • Perform Maintenance and Repairs: Install special functional and structural parts in devices, lubricate and clean parts, equipment, and machinery, test and adjust equipment to meet performance specifications, and perform scheduled maintenance of fleet vehicles.
  • Initiate Purchase Orders: Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Perform External Engine Repairs: Perform external engine repairs, with internal engine knowledge preferred.
  • Responsible for Shop Environment: Maintain a clean and safe shop environment and participate in the company's safety program.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of Powered Industrial Equipment: Working knowledge of repair of vehicle drivelines, clutch replacements, electrical systems, and air conditioning systems.
  • Knowledge of Trailer Lighting and Safety Systems: Knowledge of trailer lighting, air systems, brakes, and tires.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills to manage team members and external vendors.
