Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will lead the Maintenance Department, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. This role is pivotal in planning, organizing, and overseeing the maintenance operations of the plant, which includes engineering, planning, mechanical and electrical leads, technicians, and inventory management, all aimed at enhancing overall equipment availability.

As a catalyst for change, the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor will drive continuous improvement and standardization through the Hardie Manufacturing Operating System (HMOS), collaborating with operations teams to enhance plant operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance Management: Oversee and direct plant maintenance functions, including:
    • Leading the development of the maintenance budget and managing expenditures effectively.
    • Enhancing the integration of the company's computer maintenance management system (MP2) into maintenance and production workflows.
    • Providing leadership to the technical maintenance team, comprising direct and indirect reports.
    • Implementing strategies to minimize breakdowns and optimize maintenance schedules.
    • Establishing metrics and reporting systems to track progress and identify improvement areas.
    • Ensuring facility safety and maintaining equipment availability standards.
    • Conducting regular reviews of maintenance employee performance and training needs.
    • Collaborating closely with the Production Manager to minimize disruptions to production.
    • Identifying root causes of electrical and mechanical downtime incidents.
    • Communicating performance metrics across all levels of the maintenance organization.

Predictive and Preventative Maintenance: Lead the development and sustainability of a predictive and preventative maintenance system by:

  • Creating detailed job plans for repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Setting up and maintaining preventive maintenance work orders in MP2.
  • Managing the workflow process for maintenance tasks.
  • Maintaining a backlog of work orders and ensuring clarity and applicability of new requests.
  • Reviewing performance indicators to ensure departmental expectations are met.

Career Development: Manage the career development and training for the Maintenance Department by:

  • Ensuring technicians remain proficient with advancing technologies.
  • Evaluating technician skill sets against operational needs.
  • Implementing corporate-defined training initiatives.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a maintenance management role within a continuous operating manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with a computer maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting is preferred.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical technical knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
