Remain vigilant regarding the activities of WFS staff, security personnel, and visitors, reporting any security violations or suspicious activities to management or through the WFS whistleblower program. This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle loading and unloading of cargo from aircraft, managing items weighing up to 70 lbs within restricted cargo zones, and maneuvering loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs on rollers to and from aircraft.
  • Operate vehicles ranging from 3,000 to 80,000 lbs in congested areas with aircraft and other vehicles, requiring depth perception and color differentiation.
  • Assist in the push-out of aircraft by driving an 80,000 lb vehicle or guiding the driver using depth perception in crowded spaces.
  • Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb vehicle, interpreting off-load sheets to ascertain cargo destinations.
  • Engage in effective ground-to-cockpit communication during aircraft push-out and towing operations, utilizing hand signals and verbal commands.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with colleagues and customers.
  • Work efficiently in a high-noise environment.
  • Respond to verbal commands and safety alerts, with or without visual aids.
  • Lift and position bags weighing up to 70 lbs onto or from conveyor systems.
  • Connect and disconnect water hoses and electric cables to and from aircraft.
  • Perform de-icing of aircraft at heights, applying glycol to wings and fuselage.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Note: This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Transport Workers Union (TWU), which requires union membership and dues payment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English fluently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with passengers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Ability to address unauthorized personnel in secure areas and report accordingly.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds (31.9 kg).
  • Ability to perform tasks in various weather and environmental conditions, including exposure to jet engine fumes and noise.
  • Must be able to twist, turn, stoop, bend, reach, and grip while handling baggage.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to wear a uniform and adhere to grooming standards.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance that reflects positively on the company.
  • Ability to judge distances accurately.
