Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Civil Transportation Specialist to join our expanding team. This role will involve working on diverse projects, including roadway expansions, intersection improvements, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, roundabouts, greenways, and urban sidewalks.

The selected candidate will gain valuable experience in project management and marketing, while collaborating with planners, engineers, designers, traffic professionals, surveyors, and water resources teams to create design plans for transportation initiatives.

Key Functions:
- Act as the Project Engineer for transportation design initiatives.
- Develop horizontal and vertical alignments and produce roadway plans using Microstation, Geopak, OpenRoads, and 3D-Modeling.
- Provide technical support in the creation of sidewalk, greenway, and roadway design plans.
- Assist in formulating work plans, assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, and evaluating work products and procedures.
- Contribute to cost estimation, project scheduling, funding plans, and project benefit analysis.
- Engage with various perspectives to solve problems and promote collaborative learning among team members.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- A minimum of two years' experience in developing local, state, or federally funded transportation design plans.
- A valid NC Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure within a year of employment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while managing time efficiently.
- Familiarity with Microstation, ORD, or AutoCad Civil 3D software is advantageous.
- Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam is highly encouraged.
- Experience or knowledge of NCDOT or projects in North Carolina is a plus.

Physical/Mental Demands:
- Ability to communicate effectively, utilize hands and fingers for tasks, and perform physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Capability to lift or push up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions:
- Travel via automobile and fieldwork may comprise 10% of the role.
- The majority of work will be conducted in an indoor office environment.
