PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER IN CIVIL OR ARCHITECTURAL DISCIPLINES

Giles Flythe Engineers is in search of a qualified Professional Engineer for our North Carolina locations, eager to contribute to Community Association initiatives, including capital reserve planning and construction oversight, alongside commercial ventures such as Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and Phase 1 Environmental Assessments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate directly with managers and boards of directors from condominium, multi-family, and single-family Community Associations.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations to perform take-offs and assessments of structures and site enhancements.
  • Create a comprehensive 30-year capital reserve strategy for communities, addressing life expectancy, remaining lifespan, and maintenance costs for capital investments.
  • Engage with Associations and community stakeholders to discuss and finalize Reserve Studies, addressing any inquiries.
  • Potential involvement in additional services, including:
    • Oversight of construction projects such as roof repairs, facade renovations, paving initiatives, and window replacements for Associations.
    • Commercial property due diligence inspections, including PCA's and Phase 1 Environmental Assessments.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in both written and verbal formats with clients, including homeowners, property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Travel as necessary to project sites within the region.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant civil or structural engineering or construction experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering license or the ability to secure one within six months is required.
  • Reserve Specialist (RS) designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication abilities to interact with clients on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and report generation skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • A collaborative mindset with a readiness to adapt and take on new responsibilities.
  • Willingness to conduct inspections on ladders and roofs as necessary, with the physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and maintain balance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe, and AutoCAD.
  • A valid Driver's license with a clean driving record.
