Job Summary

The University of New Orleans is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Associate Director of Orientation and Transition Programs. This key role is responsible for the development, oversight, and coordination of Registration Days and University Success courses, with a focus on supporting student enrollment and persistence, and early success of first-year and transfer students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train, support, and supervise Peer Leadership, including UNIV Peer Mentors and Orientation Leaders.
  • Develop and evaluate learning outcomes for University Success courses, including 1001 and 1003 curricula, and instruct these courses.
  • Coordinate Registration Day Committee, set learning outcomes for the program, and facilitate reservations for Registration Days.
  • Design in-person and online agendas for first-year and transfer Registration Days, and collaborate with academic advising, enrollment services, and other campus partners to ensure a smooth enrollment process for new students.
  • Coordinate annual updates to the online orientation modules, including policy updates, fact-checking information, and working with university marketing for content.
  • Manage budgets for UNIV Peer mentor and staff training, classroom supplies, and other UNIV programming.
  • Assess UNIV Peer mentor experience, instructor feedback, student satisfaction, and achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in first-year retention initiatives and ensure UNIV 1001 and 1003 learning outcomes support UNO's retention goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Student Affairs staff members to support an inclusive institutional climate and create opportunities for student learning.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field, or 3-5 years of working experience in higher education.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, and social economic status.
  • Commitment to preparing students to understand, live among, appreciate, and work in an inherently diverse country and world.
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in first-year success, orientation, enrollment, event planning, campus activities, or related field.
  • Technical experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, and TargetX software.
