About the Role

Tulane University's Section of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Medicine is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program as its Program Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the educational curriculum in accordance with ACGME requirements, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for fellows.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of fellows, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that promotes excellence in clinical care and education.
  • Ensure compliance with ACGME standards and other regulatory requirements, maintaining the program's accreditation and reputation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to fellows, faculty, and staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate and participate in teaching activities, including didactic sessions, journal clubs, and case conferences, to enhance the learning experience and foster a community of scholars.
  • Monitor the performance and progress of fellows, providing feedback and support to ensure their success and growth.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to the ACGME and other governing bodies, maintaining transparency and accountability.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration at all participating sites to ensure the program's goals and objectives are met, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research and publications, to advance the field of hospice and palliative medicine and contribute to the program's reputation.
  • Provide high-quality, compassionate patient care on the inpatient consult service and in the outpatient setting, embodying the values of Tulane University's Section of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Medicine.
Qualifications
  • Medical or Osteopathic Degree required.
  • Must be board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a faculty member in an ACGME-accredited hospice and palliative medicine program.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a commitment to education and mentorship.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program evaluation.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a program director or associate program director.
  • Experience with research and scholarly activities in hospice and palliative medicine.
