Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Access Specialist Lead to join our team at Fairview Health Services. As a key member of our Revenue Cycle Management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring a positive first impression of our organization and delivering an exceptional experience to our patients, families, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide scheduling and registration support for patients, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of patient information.
  • Interact with patients and visitors, providing wayfinding and screening services to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, consistently demonstrating Fairview's core values of Respect, Compassion, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Manage daily worklists and resolve assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to all compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain and document required consents and regulatory documents, protecting patient privacy and only accessing information as needed to perform job duties.
  • Complete verification of insurance eligibility and benefits, supporting price transparency by explaining patient out-of-pocket expenses and collecting co-pay, deductible, and/or co-insurance amounts.
  • Mentor and train new staff, serving as a first-level support for peers and assisting leadership with work assignments and staffing.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, requiring availability outside of regular business hours, and complete quality audits to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Requirements
  • Four or more years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, health insurance, or an equivalent level 2 position.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform accurately and efficiently in EPIC, Microsoft Office Suite, and other computer programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and de-escalate complex accounts, problem-solve, and use critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Patient collections experience in a medical setting.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal), strong attention to detail, self-directed, and a positive attitude.
  • Experience as a subject matter expert and willingness to support team questions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience.
