What You Will Be Responsible For
As the Engineering Manager, your key responsibilities will include identifying and acquiring assets to support the growth of Chomps while ensuring the maintenance of all company-owned assets. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to pinpoint investment opportunities that will enhance quality and manufacturing efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Acquisition:
- Assess, evaluate, and select suppliers for thermoforming packaging machinery and secondary packaging automation systems.
- Develop and manage a CAPEX schedule that includes ROI analysis.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and high quality.
- Oversee the procurement cycle from request to delivery, ensuring timely acquisition of machinery.
Maintenance and Upkeep:
- Create and execute preventive maintenance plans for thermoforming packaging machinery and secondary packaging automation systems.
- Coordinate with external facilities to schedule regular maintenance and inspections.
- Supervise troubleshooting and repair activities to minimize downtime and guarantee continuous operation of machinery.
- Offer technical support and guidance to external facility personnel regarding the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging machinery.
Performance Evaluation and Enhancement:
- Track performance metrics of packaging machinery to discover optimization and improvement opportunities.
- Implement strategies to boost efficiency, minimize waste, and enhance productivity in packaging processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory standards, safety protocols, and industry best practices in packaging operations.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in managing engineering projects related to packaging machinery, specifically thermoforming packaging machines and secondary packaging automation.
- Strong technical knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging machinery and automation systems.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the capacity to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards relevant to packaging operations.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time for equipment commissioning.
Position Overview: Manager, Engineering
Reports To: VP, Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time, exempt
Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000, plus annual bonus
