About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Women's and Maternal Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to women and families in our community. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping us achieve our mission of improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct well-woman exams and provide preventive health services
  • Review and address preventive health needs, including contraception and reproductive health
  • Prescribe and educate patients on available contraception options
  • Insert long-acting reversible contraception, such as IUDs and implants
  • Provide education and counseling on unexpected pregnancies and reproductive health
  • Order and interpret blood and imaging tests as needed
  • Address infertility concerns and provide reproductive health services
  • Diagnose and treat sexually transmitted infections
  • Manage women through the perinatal period, including prenatal care and postpartum support
  • Provide menopause education and counseling
  • Screen for domestic violence, substance use disorder, depression, anxiety, and high-risk behaviors
  • Perform primary care procedures, including pap smears and endometrial biopsies
  • Collaborate with obstetricians and other healthcare providers as needed
Requirements
  • Current certification as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • Current registration and licensure as a registered professional nurse (RN) in New York State
  • Graduation from a nurse practitioner education program acceptable to NYSED or certification as a nurse practitioner by a national certifying organization acceptable to NYSED
  • Completed pharmacology coursework acceptable to NYSED
  • Applied for nurse practitioner certification with NYSED
  • 3-5 years of experience as a WHNP, FNP, or CNM
  • Preferred experience in women's health programs as a licensed clinician
  • Experience working with underserved populations facing socioeconomic barriers to healthcare
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is a plus
  • Immunization and phlebotomy skills
