About Us:

At Southwest Research Institute, we are dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of the Legacy Training Aircraft Division (LTAD) through our Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP). We are currently looking for skilled Technical Specialists to assist in the development of comprehensive technical manuals aimed at supporting the United States Air Force (USAF) in the operation of Commercial-Derivative aircraft managed by LTAD. This role involves the creation of technical documentation in alignment with USAF standard Technical Orders.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a technical advisor for assigned systems and acquisition programs, focusing on complex and advanced systems.
  • Deliver expert and foundational technical guidance and logistical support for the maintenance, operation, and training associated with intricate systems and equipment to senior leaders and engineers.
  • Review, update, or create initial technical publications, system inventories, and master records.
  • Utilize independent judgment to offer technical assistance to field units and depots in resolving intricate maintenance and logistics challenges.
  • Provide guidance to junior government and contract equipment specialists on established procedures and policies.


Daily Tasks:
  • Execute processes and procedures related to the functional responsibilities of a system-level equipment specialist for the United States Air Force.
  • Interpret and analyze technical data, sustainment information, and metrics relevant to systems and equipment.
  • Offer independent technical insights through oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to the USAF.
  • Examine engineering drawings and technical manuals to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Organize and prioritize individual and team tasks to adapt to evolving deadlines.


Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with experience as an Equipment Specialist.
  • Ten years of experience in providing organizational support and guidance on sustainment and acquisition methods.
  • Five years of experience in interpreting technical data and integrating solutions into technical documentation.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills.
  • Strong communication and time management abilities.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

This position requires a U.S. person due to ITAR regulations.
