Job Overview

PRIMARY ROLE:

The Safety and Compliance Leader is instrumental in steering and advising the operations of Sparrow Company. This position guarantees that all facilities adhere to the relevant health and safety regulations and internal standards, ensuring operational integrity.

This role is designed to cultivate an atmosphere that encourages open dialogue and teamwork regarding safety across various departments, while enabling frontline personnel to take ownership of compliance and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will exhibit genuine leadership qualities, foster positive relationships, and demonstrate a commitment to nurturing a culture centered around safety. A strong dedication to safety, exceptional customer service, and the ability to coach teams in alignment with the company’s core values and critical safety protocols are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and enhance overall safety planning and collaborate with engineering on the installation or modification of safety-related equipment.
  • Design and implement safety training programs for all staff in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions on safety initiatives, including but not limited to, hazard communication and emergency response protocols.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory documentation to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and compliance with safety regulations.
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, promote a world-class safety culture by developing and executing safety systems, policies, and initiatives aimed at enhancing safe practices and mitigating hazards.
  • Implement strategies for incident prevention and provide education on proactive safety behaviors.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, utilizing Root Cause Analysis to develop corrective action plans that minimize future risks.
  • Encourage the reporting of leading indicators to enhance safety performance.
  • Utilize expertise in Behavioral Based Safety programs to drive improvements.
  • Support the implementation of corporate Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE) systems to ensure compliance and track safety performance metrics.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Industrial Hygiene policies and regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations as mandated by relevant authorities.
  • Fulfill all record-keeping and reporting obligations related to health and safety compliance.
  • Stay informed on current regulations, including hazard communication and emergency response strategies.
  • Develop and uphold ISO 14000 and ISO 45001 systems.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a positive operational reputation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, with a commitment to continuous improvement in safety, health, and environmental management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with 5-10 years of relevant professional experience. A solid understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, coupled with strong computer skills, is essential. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must. This position may involve remote support and site visits.
