PRIMARY ROLE:
The Occupational Health Manager is instrumental in steering and advising the operations at Sparrow Company. This position guarantees that all facilities and associated sites adhere to relevant health and safety regulations and corporate standards.
The ideal candidate will cultivate a culture of open communication and teamwork regarding safety across various departments, while encouraging frontline employees to take ownership of safety practices and compliance.
The successful applicant is expected to showcase authentic leadership, foster positive relationships, and demonstrate a commitment to nurturing a safety-oriented environment. A strong passion for safety, exceptional customer service, and the ability to effectively mentor teams in alignment with the company's core values and critical safety protocols are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead and enhance overall safety planning and collaborate with engineering on the installation or modification of safety-related equipment.
• Design and implement comprehensive Health and Safety training programs for all staff, in accordance with regulatory and corporate guidelines.
• Conduct training sessions for employees on various Health and Safety initiatives, including but not limited to regulatory compliance and safety protocols.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required regulatory documentation to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Act as a liaison with federal and state regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and compliance.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to cultivate a world-class safety culture by implementing robust safety systems, policies, and initiatives aimed at enhancing employee safety behaviors and mitigating hazards.
• Drive strategies for incident prevention and provide education on predictive safety behaviors.
• Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, performing Root Cause Analysis and developing corrective action plans to minimize future occurrences.
• Promote the reporting of leading safety indicators.
• Demonstrate experience with Behavioral Safety programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in implementing corporate Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE) systems to ensure compliance and track Health and Safety performance metrics.
• Maintain knowledge of Industrial Hygiene policies and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety requirements as per relevant regulations.
• Fulfill all necessary record-keeping and reporting obligations related to health and safety compliance.
• Stay informed on regulations regarding hazard communication, workers' compensation, and emergency response.
• Develop and sustain ISO 14000 and ISO 45001 systems.
• Maintain the company's reputation by engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, with a commitment to continuous improvement in occupational safety, environmental stewardship, and quality management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with 5-10 years of relevant professional experience. A solid understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, coupled with strong computer skills, is essential. Excellent communication and leadership abilities are necessary for this role.
