Job Overview:
The Safety and Environmental Compliance Advisor plays a crucial role in the establishment, execution, and oversight of robust Safety, Health, and Environmental (EHS) programs and systems. This position is responsible for evaluating hazardous conditions and proposing alternative solutions to enhance workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation, documentation, enhancement, and assessment of site-specific EHS systems to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Identify and analyze environmental, safety, and health requirements to ensure alignment with corporate standards.
- Provide expertise in the formulation, implementation, and upkeep of Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Conduct audits and safety evaluations of work environments, processes, and operations to comply with regulatory standards.
- Ensure all necessary registrations, permits, and licenses are maintained and up to date.
- Lead initiatives supporting continuous improvement teams, emergency response teams, and other collaborative project groups.
- Participate in the development and execution of training programs for staff.
- Collect data to identify, mitigate, or eliminate sources of pollutants and hazards affecting employee health and safety.
- Facilitate communication of best practices, incidents, and near misses across facilities in accordance with established protocols.
- Assist with mandatory environmental reporting, including hazardous waste, air emissions, and wastewater management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and standards.
- Professionally recognized safety or environmental certification (e.g., ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH, CHMM) is preferred.
- Knowledge of RCRA Hazardous Waste Management and DOT training requirements.
- Experience with ISO 14001 standards and EHS-related software such as SAP or Benchmark Gensuite.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.
Work Authorization:
This position requires compliance with Export Control regulations; therefore, a "US Person" as defined by applicable laws is necessary. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is typically required for this role.
