This position is integral to a multidisciplinary team, responsible for managing the operations within the heart catheterization laboratory suite. The role involves operating diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac devices, monitoring patient vitals, performing essential calculations, circulating, and assisting the physician during procedures as needed. Additionally, you will prepare the procedure rooms, equipment, and patients for their respective procedures, while also acting as a liaison to the hospital's Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).

Educational Requirements

  • Required: Associate degree in radiologic sciences.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences.

Experience Requirements

  • Required: None.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience as an allied health professional.

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice and registration from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in computer usage, software applications, and web-based platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform complex tasks that may pose risks to patient welfare and identify equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to interact effectively and courteously with a diverse range of internal and external visitors in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to learn new procedures.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory radiation requirements.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in patient setup and preparation prior to procedures, and in post-procedure cleanup using safe patient transfer techniques.
  • Document procedures accurately in logs to ensure proper billing and charge capture.
  • Operate radiographic fluoroscopy equipment to capture diagnostic images related to coronary artery and peripheral vascular diseases.
  • Conduct hemodynamic monitoring during procedures and report findings to the performing physician.
  • Monitor radiation delivery to patients to ensure safety and minimize exposure to staff.
  • Transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images using picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • Maintain quality control standards through optimal diagnostic imaging and regular equipment maintenance.
  • Adapt interactions to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
