This position is integral to a collaborative healthcare team, responsible for managing the operations within the cardiac catheterization laboratory. You will operate diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac devices, monitor patient vitals, perform essential calculations, and assist physicians during procedures as needed. Additionally, you will prepare the procedure rooms, equipment, and patients for interventions, while acting as a liaison to the hospital's Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).

Educational Requirements

Required – Associate degree in radiologic sciences.

Preferred – Bachelor's degree in radiologic sciences.

Experience Requirements

Required – None.

Preferred – 2 years of experience in a related healthcare role.

Certification Requirements

Required – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA within 6 months of hire.

Registered Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice and certification from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficient in utilizing computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform complex tasks that may impact patient safety and identify equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to interact effectively and courteously with a diverse group of individuals in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to learn new procedures.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local radiation regulations.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the team with patient setup and preparation prior to procedures, and ensure safe patient transfer and positioning post-procedure.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in procedure logs to reflect interventions for billing and charge capture.
  • Operate radiographic fluoroscopy equipment to capture diagnostic images related to coronary and peripheral vascular diseases.
  • Conduct hemodynamic monitoring during procedures and report findings to the physician.
  • Monitor radiation dose delivery to ensure patient safety and minimize staff exposure.
  • Manage the transmission, archiving, and retrieval of digital images using picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • Perform quality control checks and regular maintenance on fluoroscopy equipment to uphold diagnostic imaging standards.
  • Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and clarity in service explanations.
  • Execute other related duties as assigned.
