Position Summary

This role requires advanced certification in Nuclear Medicine and involves evaluating patients while safely executing standard nuclear medicine procedures in line with established safety protocols.

This position also serves as a clinical mentor for junior personnel and students.

Qualifications

Education
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience
Required: None, but healthcare experience is preferred.

Certifications

Mandatory:
- Registered in Nuclear Medicine by the ARRT or an equivalent organization recognized by the ACR.
- Certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
- Current state license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in computer skills necessary for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Competent in using Windows-based applications and various software specific to the role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
Key Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy.
  • Utilize radiology information systems to enhance patient care.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure their understanding.
  • Independently operate equipment to perform imaging procedures according to established protocols, including IV placement and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Review patient images prior to transmission to confirm they meet diagnostic quality standards.
  • Conduct timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform necessary notifications/remediations.
  • Lead departmental initiatives, protocol development, system standardization, competency validation, safety programs, accreditation, and quality/efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in training junior staff and provide feedback for annual evaluations.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Adaptability
Tailor interactions to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and effective communication.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The essential physical functions of this role include frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects and occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. The physical demands exceed those for sedentary work. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
