This position is integral to a collaborative healthcare team, responsible for managing the operations within the cardiac catheterization laboratory. You will utilize diagnostic fluoroscopy and various cardiac imaging technologies, monitor patient vitals, perform essential calculations, and assist physicians during procedures as needed. Preparation of procedure rooms, equipment, and patients is also a key responsibility, along with acting as a liaison to the hospital's Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
Educational Requirements
- Required: Associate degree in radiologic sciences.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in radiologic sciences.
Experience Requirements
- Required: None.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in a related healthcare role.
Certification Requirements
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA within 6 months of hire.
- Registered Radiologic Technologist in the state of practice and certification from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in computer applications and software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to perform complex tasks safely.
- Able to interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of and compliance with all relevant regulatory radiation standards.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in patient preparation and post-procedure cleanup using safe transfer techniques.
- Document procedures accurately to ensure proper billing and charge capture.
- Operate fluoroscopic equipment to capture diagnostic images related to cardiovascular conditions.
- Monitor hemodynamic status during procedures and report findings to the physician.
- Ensure safe radiation delivery to patients while minimizing exposure to staff.
- Manage digital imaging processes within picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
- Maintain quality control standards through regular equipment checks and maintenance.
- Adapt communication and care approaches to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
