Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Personal Financial Counselor to join our team at Magellan Health. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert financial guidance and support to military service members and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Counseling Services: Provide comprehensive financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one-on-one counseling, consultation with commanders or other providers, and conducting briefings and presentations.
  • Financial Education and Planning: Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences, develop and make available informational financial materials, and coordinate and publicize Personal Financial Management classes and workshops.
  • Virtual Counseling: Possess the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications and secure video teleconferences.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with leadership, participate in regular individual and group supervision, and share information regarding trends and issues on the installations to which the counselor is assigned.
  • Professional Development: Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; may consider applicants with an associate degree plus 4 years' experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • Certifications: Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
  • Language Skills: Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; may be required to be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
