Role Summary:
The Financial Aid Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the daily functions of the Financial Aid Office. This position is primarily focused on providing assistance via various communication channels, including in-person interactions, electronic correspondence, and managing work queues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the initial point of contact for students and families seeking guidance from the financial aid office, delivering exceptional customer service.
- Manage assigned work queues and respond to inquiries through email and messaging platforms.
- Provide comprehensive information to students and families regarding the financial aid application process, eligibility criteria, verification procedures, and application status, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Serve as a resource for prospective and current students, assisting in resolving eligibility concerns and processing financial aid awards.
- Investigate student accounts to confirm the receipt of funds, following up on missing documentation and enrollment status.
- Assist in the collection of necessary documentation and the processing of forms within the financial aid unit.
- Support the development and upkeep of electronic financial aid documentation.
- Contribute to the coordination of information for annual financial aid audits.
- Utilize document management systems to oversee and process financial aid-related documents.
- Monitor electronic submissions and validate documents for accuracy and compliance with established standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the financial aid office.
Additional Duties:
On occasion, the individual may be required to:
- Attend off-campus workshops or meetings.
- Provide assistance to other departments within strategic enrollment services.
- Resolve discrepancies related to financial aid awards.
- Work during evenings and weekends as necessary.
