Lending Center Specialist

This role is responsible for sourcing, developing, and closing real estate loans, as well as generating and aiding remote closings of new auto and consumer loan business. The Lending Center Specialist will represent the credit union in the local community and participate in marketing all the credit union's products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Originate and complete all loan applications initiated in the Lending Center, gathering necessary loan documents and submitting loan for processing.
  2. Consult with applicants on various mortgage financing products and consumer loan programs offered by the credit union.
  3. Use credit union provided lists to contact members and prospective members to generate new consumer and real estate loans.
  4. Follow up on incomplete applications to help and/or determine applicant's intentions.
  5. Coordinate with mortgage processors and communicate with applicants and other parties on the progress of the application.
  6. Complete follow up with mortgage partners to ensure loan closing and resolve any problems while ensuring compliance guidelines.
  7. Source and develop loans for all aspects of the market, including HELOC, residential real estate, new construction, auto loans, and consumer loans.
  8. Work with the loan center team to ensure all pertinent account documentation is complete and accurate.
  9. Support the credit union's strong relationship building culture through ongoing member contact, quality member service, and superior product knowledge.
  10. Build and maintain positive relations with all members, potential members, and co-workers.
  11. Assist potential members with opening membership accounts.
  12. Assist members with opening checking and savings accounts.
  13. Refer members when applicable to CUNA Mutual financial advisors.
  14. Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Education and Training:
  • High School education or GED.
  • Must be able to meet the qualifications necessary to be registered with the NMLS under the provisions set forth by the S.A.F.E. Act.
  • On an annual basis, is required to complete mandatory Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and Red Flag Identity Theft training.
Prior Experience:
  • 3-5 years lending and sales experience.
Interpersonal Skills:

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Special Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to explain and discuss complex and/or sensitive topics.
  • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
  • Understanding and knowledge of credit union and lending regulations and responsibilities relating to each, including a working knowledge of mortgages, liens, and other aspects of the loan collateral perfection.
  • Strong knowledge of FLFCU lending products, policies, and procedures.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently.
  • Leadership abilities.
Physical Demands:

The need for physical stamina is low to moderate. Moderate to significant local travel is required.

Working Conditions:

Minimal adverse working conditions. Some fluctuations in temperature experienced in office setting. May need to work beyond normal working hours, pending organization needs.
