Lending Center Specialist

Purpose:

Responsible for sourcing, developing, and closing real estate loans as well as generating and aiding remote closings of new auto and consumer loan business. Represents the credit union in the local community and participates in marketing all the credit union's products and services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Originates/completes all loan applications initiated in the Lending Center, gathers necessary loan documents, collects upfront fees, and submits loan for processing.
  1. Consults with applicants on a variety of mortgage financing products and consumer loan programs the credit union has to offer.
  1. Using credit union provided lists, contacts members and prospective members to generate new consumer and real estate loans.
  2. Follows up on incomplete applications to help and/or determine applicant's intentions.
  1. Coordinates with mortgage processors, communicates with applicants and other parties respectively on the progress of the application.
  1. Completes follow up with mortgage partners to ensure loan closing and resolve any problems while ensuring compliance guidelines.
  1. Source and develop loans for all aspects of our market including but not limited to: HELOC, residential real estate, new construction, auto loans, and consumer loans.
  2. Work with loan center team to ensure that all pertinent account documentation is complete and accurate.
  1. Support the credit union's strong relationship building culture through on-going member contact, quality member service, and superior product knowledge.
  2. Build and maintain positive relations with all members, potential members, and co-workers.
  1. Assist potential members with opening membership account.
  1. Assist members with opening checking and savings accounts.
  1. Refers members when applicable to CUNA Mutual financial advisors.
  2. Comply with all department and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  3. Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. The ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Credit Union's exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions.
  2. Must comply with the Federal Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering & Customer Identification Policy (BSA), the OFAC Policy and the Identity Theft Policy.


Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Training:
  • High School education or GED.
  • Must be able to meet the qualifications necessary to be registered with the NMLS under the provisions set forth by the S.A.F.E. Act.
  • On an annual basis is required to complete mandatory Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and Red Flag Identity Theft training.
Prior Experience:
  • 3-5 years lending and sales experience
Interpersonal Skills:

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Special Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to explain and discuss complex and/or sensitive topics.
  • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
  • Understanding and knowledge of credit union and lending regulations and responsibilities relating to each including a working knowledge of mortgages, liens, and other aspects of the loan collateral perfection.
  • Strong knowledge of FLFCU lending products, policies, and procedures.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently.
  • Leadership abilities.


Physical Demands:

The need for physical stamina is low to moderate. Moderate to significant local travel is required.

Working Conditions:

Minimal adverse working conditions. Some fluctuations in temperature experienced in office setting. May need to work beyond normal working hours, pending organization needs.
