POSITION OVERVIEW
Kiewit is seeking a qualified Intermediate Civil Engineering Specialist to join our dynamic engineering team. This role will involve supporting or leading various projects focused on site development across multiple sectors.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, and a collaborative spirit while providing administrative, technical, quality, and safety leadership to engineering and design teams.

LOCATION
This position offers flexible work arrangements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Independently assess, select, and implement engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for site development projects.

• Create site designs that may involve analysis, calculations, research, material selection, layout, etc., necessary for the required deliverables.


• Execute final designs for project components such as grading and earthwork, hydrology and hydraulics, roadway, and overall site design.

• Supervise the creation of surface models using Civil3D and/or similar design software.

• Facilitate interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure all project elements are integrated.

• Develop preliminary design concepts and alternatives to assist in cost estimation.

• Participate in project technical meetings and provide coordination to address design challenges.

• Guide Designers in employing data-driven design to make informed decisions regarding design solutions and processes.

• Formulate permit and third-party strategies for projects from initial development through to the completion of approvals and agreements.

• Leverage knowledge of departmental design standards and applicable engineering codes to review prepared drawings and documents for compliance.

• Plan, schedule, and analyze scope, staffing, and budgeting.

• Collaborate closely with construction partners to ensure overall project success.

• Ensure Quality Control of services and deliverables in accordance with the Kiewit Company Quality Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
• Bachelor of Science degree in a related field (e.g., civil engineering)

• A minimum of 2 years of proven civil engineering design experience in this or comparable industries.

• Proficiency with computer-assisted engineering and design software, preferably Autocad Civil 3D, MicroStation, Geopak, and/or drainage calculation software.

• PE license or the ability to obtain a PE license is expected.

• Must have a competent level of experience working with spreadsheets and databases.

• Strong project team orientation and networking skills.

• High degree of self-motivation.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

TRAVEL


Occasional travel to project sites may be required for inspections, field measurements, and assisting construction personnel in reviewing vendor and Kiewit designs.

Travel may also be necessary to evaluate vendor equipment and fabrication processes.

• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete tasks within given deadlines. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

• May work at various locations with varying conditions.
