Per Diem Medical Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Per Diem Medical Technologist to join our team at North Mississippi Health Services. As a Per Diem Medical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of laboratory specimens, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area
- Serve as Charge Medical Technologist in the absence of the supervisor or Lead MT
- Assure accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment, and specimens
- Follow all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens
- Follow regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens
- Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members, and customers
- Use AIDET as applicable
- Attend CARES training
- Assure proper service recovery is done for patients and/or caregivers
- Answer the telephone in a polite and efficient manner
- Work as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees
- Assure department testing, applicable to their area, is reported in an accurate and timely manner
- Assist with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives
- Assure appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control
- Assist with training of students and new employees
- Participate in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or related field
- ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, required within 12 months after incumbent's graduation from an accredited Medical Technology Program
- Valid Mississippi Driver's License and acceptable driving record/history (preferred)
- Proficient skills with LIS
- Good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens
