North Mississippi Health Services is currently in search of a per diem Medical Technologist for a flexible position in the healthcare sector.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Oversees the workflow of phlebotomists in the Specimen Processing area.
* Acts as Charge Medical Technologist in the absence of the supervisor or Lead Medical Technologist.

Logistics and Transportation:
* Ensures the precise and efficient transportation of laboratory supplies, equipment, and specimens.
* Adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens.

Specimen Management & Processing:
* Complies with regulatory standards in the handling and processing of laboratory specimens.
* Follows established protocols for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens.

Communication Skills:
* Effectively interacts with all NMHS staff, patients, their families, and customers.

Customer Service:
* Utilizes AIDET principles as applicable.
* Participates in CARES training.
* Ensures proper service recovery for patients and/or caregivers when necessary.
* Answers phone calls in a courteous and efficient manner.

Team Collaboration:
* Works collaboratively with all Pathology and NMHS personnel.

Documentation & Reporting:
* Ensures department testing is reported accurately and promptly.
* Contributes to achieving departmental Performance Improvement goals.
* Maintains appropriate documentation for all required instrument maintenance and quality control.

Educational Responsibilities:
* Assists in training students and new employees.
* Engages in continuing education programs to enhance and expand skills.
* Stays informed about regulatory changes.

Regulatory Compliance:
* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines.
* Complies with relevant Local, State, and Federal regulations and standards.

Job Knowledge:
* Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science, or a related field is required.
* ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist is required within 12 months of graduation from an accredited Medical Technology Program.
* Valid Mississippi Driver's License and acceptable driving record/history is preferred.
* Proficient skills with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) are required.
* Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential.
* Knowledge of and appropriate handling of biohazardous specimens is required.
