Physician - Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician to join our team at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. As a member of our well-established and busy MFM division, you will provide consultative care for high-risk patients and pregnancies, including an active maternal transfer service to our Birthing Center.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
- Coordinate discharge planning with case management.
- Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
- Accept patient referrals from other physicians and act as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses.
- Participate in academic programs, such as medical education and research, as requested.
- Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements and appeal all denials in a timely manner.
- Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on-call schedules.
Ascension St. John Hospital is a regional referral teaching hospital founded in 1952. We provide comprehensive accredited training to over 200 resident physicians, 30 fellows, and 56 core medical students in accordance with ACGME requirements. Our hospital is a Level I Trauma Center with a Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure Center accreditation, and we specialize in neuro-endovascular treatments for acute stroke.

Requirements- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
- Additional Preferences: Must be residency trained and BC in obstetrics/gynecology, BE/BC fellowship trained in MFM, and able to meet the requirements to obtain a State of Michigan medical license.
