Position Overview: Skidmore College Dining Services is seeking applications for the role of On-Call Customer Attendant/Short Order Cook.
Role Summary: The individual will be responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and maintaining cleanliness in work and dining areas, along with additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup, serving, and cleaning of designated stations.
- Take, prepare, and serve orders for patrons efficiently.
- Engage in various cooking techniques including stir-frying, sautéing, and grilling of proteins as required.
- Heat items for daily specials, ensuring quality and presentation.
- Utilize kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, and fryers appropriately.
- Ensure proper merchandising and signage for assigned stations.
- Greet guests, verify IDs, and process sales transactions accurately.
- Maintain stock levels in display cases and refrigerators.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including tables and chairs.
- Sort and manage silverware and maintain supply levels of dishes and utensils.
- Perform dishwashing duties and maintain cleanliness in the dish room.
- Assist in food production and special events as needed.
- Manage laundry duties when assigned.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including temperature checks of food items.
- Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with relevant work experience or training. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions are essential.
Physical Requirements: The role requires regular standing, walking, and lifting of items up to 30 pounds. Candidates should be able to work in various environmental conditions, including wet or humid areas and exposure to heat.
Work Environment: The position may involve exposure to moderate to loud noise levels and the use of various kitchen chemicals. Compliance with safety protocols and health codes is mandatory.
