Position Summary:

The Utility Associate plays a crucial role in maintaining the grocery sales environment, utilizing point-of-sale systems for transactions, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience for all patrons. This role involves responding to customer inquiries regarding grocery operations and local information. The Utility Associate is dedicated to providing personalized service, educating customers about premium products, and expertly preparing beverages as per store standards. Responsibilities also include managing inventory and ensuring cleanliness and organization in work areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver exceptional customer service by providing timely and courteous assistance.
  2. Utilize POS systems for cash and credit transactions while adhering to cash handling protocols.
  3. Reconcile cash drawers and complete end-of-day sales reports.
  4. Collaborate effectively within a team, managing multiple tasks while fostering positive relationships.
  5. Possess knowledge of WIC, Food Stamp, and other market programs.
  6. Demonstrate familiarity with the products available in the grocery department.
  7. Understand Hualapai tourism, history, and culture.
  8. Sell and serve baked goods and various food items.
  9. Maintain cleanliness in the coffee bar area and other workspaces.
  10. Perform meat preparation tasks, including cutting and processing.
  11. Weigh meat items according to established procedures.
  12. Receive and verify meat, poultry, and fish deliveries.
  13. Prepare specialty orders based on customer requests.
  14. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following health and sanitation standards.
  15. Estimate supply needs and manage inventory levels.
  16. Prepare a variety of baked goods according to recipes.
  17. Review production schedules to determine daily baking needs.
  18. Follow cleaning and sanitizing protocols diligently.
  19. Identify and manage spoiled or defective products.
  20. Complete necessary production documentation.
Knowledge and Abilities:
  1. Handle cash and credit transactions using the POS system.
  2. Manage cash drawer responsibilities and end-of-day balancing.
  3. Assist with inventory management and restocking.
  4. Maintain cleanliness throughout the grocery area.
  5. Provide information to customers regarding products and operations.
  6. Deliver outstanding customer service to build loyalty.
  7. Work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple tasks.
  8. Understand the operation of various equipment used in the grocery department.
  9. Lift and move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  10. Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
  11. Knowledge of production processes and quality control techniques.
  12. Develop expertise in meat department operations.
  13. Maintain and care for all equipment and work areas.
  14. Lift and move items up to 50 pounds as necessary.
Qualifications:
  1. Strong oral communication skills.
  2. Valid driver's license with a clean record preferred.
  3. High School Diploma or GED.
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  5. Prior experience with POS systems or cash handling preferred.
  6. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
  7. Valid Food Handlers card required.
  8. 2-5 years of experience in a grocery or butcher environment preferred.
Working Conditions:

This position operates in a typical grocery retail environment. Physical demands include lifting merchandise boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Flexibility in scheduling, including weekends and holidays, is required.
