Process Enhancement Specialist

Position Summary:
The Process Enhancement Specialist will engage collaboratively with various departments within the People Operations Cabinet and other pertinent City divisions to assess, evaluate, and identify avenues for refining current policies and practices that impact the workforce of the City of Boston.
This position entails the documentation of procedures for City personnel, pinpointing areas for enhancement, and taking an active role in leading initiatives aimed at improving operational effectiveness across departments.
The Process Enhancement Specialist will partner closely with the Director of Operational Improvement to execute process upgrades and play a vital role in the strategic evolution of the City of Boston.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate technology initiatives by recognizing opportunities for process enhancements and coordinating implementation activities, while incorporating user-centered design principles.
Conduct both qualitative and quantitative data analysis and visualization to support process improvement projects.
Work in conjunction with departments within the People Operations Cabinet to document existing policies and procedures.
Engage in the management and execution of new processes, policies, and tools for People Operations, including leading the change management strategy.
Collaborate with the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) to centralize data and assess process effectiveness.
Essential Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in project management, public or business administration, finance, or a related discipline is required.
A Master's degree in business management, public administration, or a related field may replace three (3) years of the required experience.
Proven experience in data analytics within complex organizations, including proficiency in reporting, dashboarding, mapping, and/or visualization using software and languages such as Python, R, SQL, or PowerBI.
Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to the vision of strategic operational enhancement.
Skill in articulating complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Previous experience in a large organization, preferably in public sector and/or unionized settings.
Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
A collaborative team player with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Familiarity with the City of Boston is advantageous.
