About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Dynamics Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin. As a key member of our analysis team, you will be responsible for performing structural non-linear analyses for reentry vehicles, producing and maintaining models generated from in-house and commercially available software codes, and preparing test plans, post-test data processing, and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural non-linear analyses (stress/dynamics) for reentry vehicles
  • Produce and maintain models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes, that simulate hostile encounter events, penetration mechanics, and impact physics
  • Prepare test plans, post-test data processing, and reports
  • Work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity, and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems
  • Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews
  • Provide review, interpretation, flow down, and implementation of program requirements, and plan tasks and review budget and schedule to reduce cost and cycle time
Requirements
  • Understanding of structural non-linear analysis through education or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience with analysis methods to include FEA solvers
  • Proficiency in application of finite element analysis principles as well as rigid and flexible body lumped-parameters
  • Experience with Implicit/Explicit finite element modeling like - NX, Abaqus, ANSYS, or equivalent
  • Experience performing analysis efforts in support of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design activity
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US citizenship is required

  • Experience evaluating designs using rigid body or flexible body analysis methods and tools
  • Mechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experience
  • Experience with NX/Nastran, ADAMS, LS-Dyna, Matlab, Mathcad, and CREO
  • Static, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardware
  • Experience correlating models post-test
  • Creativity/innovation to tackle issues related to anomalous performance of any aspect of a mechanical system
