Position Overview

Homeless Solutions, Inc. has been a pioneer in providing essential services in Morris County for four decades, and we recognize that our team is the cornerstone of our ongoing achievements. The Youth Support Program Manager at HSI plays a crucial role in collaborating with fellow staff members, volunteers, and interns to evaluate the requirements of and deliver suitable support services for all minors and young adults residing in our Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Programs.

This position offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in direct care, working closely with our dedicated team, and reporting directly to the Women & Families Division Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of the youth in our programs, connect families to relevant community resources, and provide continuous support as they strive for long-term housing stability.
  • Act as the primary liaison for community partners offering services aimed at strengthening families with children.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to organize all youth-related initiatives.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with McKinney Vento liaisons in each school district attended by HSI children to ensure access to necessary services, including transportation, and to prevent any interruptions in their education due to homelessness.
  • Oversee the process for in-kind donations intended for children.
  • Manage the Homeless Solutions sports scholarship initiative.
  • Represent Homeless Solutions on county committees focused on children and youth.
  • Provide guidance to other staff and support for youth clients (aged 24 and under) in other HSI programs as needed.
  • Supervise the Homeless Solutions Childcare Assistance Program, including managing childcare subsidy applications, arranging childcare, and monitoring related program costs for various reporting purposes.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Child Psychology, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience working directly with at-risk youth.
  3. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  4. Individuals with personal experience of homelessness are encouraged to apply, as lived experience may substitute for formal education, provided all other qualifications are met.
  5. Basic understanding of administrative functions and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  6. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with strong interpersonal skills.
  8. Consistent and reliable onsite attendance and transportation are essential during scheduled hours.

Compensation and Benefits:

Full-time permanent employees at Homeless Solutions are eligible for comprehensive medical, dental, and life insurance coverage in accordance with HSI policies. Additionally, all staff can participate in a 401k retirement savings plan, which includes a company match of up to 6%. Generous paid time off policies encompass personal, vacation, and sick leave, along with 10 floating holidays each year.

Salary Range: $45,000 to $50,000 annually.
