Position Description:

Steel Project Management Specialist

Summary:

The Steel Project Management Specialist will be tasked with managing self-perform steel projects, including job cost tracking, Monthly Project Status Reports (MPSR), and day-to-day project oversight. This role will involve coordinating equipment, crane planning, and resource allocation, focusing on Man-Hour (MH) based production metrics and change management tracking. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Estimating Team to review project scopes, including exclusions, assumptions, and qualifications.
  • Work alongside the Chief Steel Estimator and Project Executive to establish and maintain project budget structures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects are managed to maximize profitability while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
  • Track all Change Events, including MH tracking by Phase Code, and ensure timely submission of Change Order Requests (COR's) to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage COR's to ensure they are processed into billable Change Orders (CO).
  • Develop site-specific erection and crane plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Adena's AISC Quality Management System (QMS) during steel erection activities.
  • Assist in managing equipment resources with the General Foreman and Equipment Manager to meet project requirements while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Create submittals and shop drawings to align with project specifications.
  • Prepare and submit pay applications and invoices on a monthly basis to relevant parties.
  • Produce Monthly Project Status Reports (MPSR) and present findings to leadership.
  • Participate in recurring project meetings as dictated by client and project needs.
  • Ensure routine project documentation is completed by the Superintendent or Foremen, including daily reports and job hazard analyses.
  • Assist in production and material takeoffs for Change Orders as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

Steel Project Management Specialist

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience in self-perform trade work is essential.
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Experience with VISTA accounting and project management software is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret building blueprints.
  • Estimating experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites, including potential overnight travel.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
